These positions are typically classified as Clinical Staff Pharmacist Jobs. Clinical Staff Pharmacist Jobs tend to have in most cases a 50/50 ration of clinical pharmacist work to staff pharmacist work. These types of pharmacist jobs tend to be within a decentralized hospital pharmacy. The offer the pharmacist a mix of staffing and clinical pharmacy work and it adds a new dimension to hospital pharmacy work as opposed to the hospitals that are centralized. A pure clinical pharmacist jobs is the most coveted of all pharmacist jobs. These clinical pharmacist jobs tend to be primarily day shift positions. In most cases a PGY1 Residency will not be sufficient to acquire a job as a clinical pharmacist. Most hospital pharmacies will require at least a PGY2 Residency in the area of specialty in order to be considered for a clinical pharmacy job. Simply having a Doctorate of Pharmacy is not enough these days, a residency or in some cases very strong clinical pharmacy experience will be needed to even be able to get an interview.

Clinical Coordinator for North Carolina Hospital

Amherst Healthcare is recruiting for a Clinical Pharmacy Coordinator for a great health system in North Carolina. The hospital is located midway between Winston-Salem and Hickory. Oncology residency is desired, but will consider a PGY1 with experience in Chemo and IV.

Responsibilities: Provides clinical pharmacy services for assigned outpatient oncology clinic, optimizing the quality of patient care. Instructs medical, nursing, pharmacy residents, students, and staff, regarding proper drug therapy. Conducts quality improvement activities and provides pharmacy operation support.

Maintains appropriate records as needed. Possesses the skills and ability to assess data reflective of patient status and to interpret this information and identify the patients' needs in relation to age-specific requirements and to provide care as described in accordance with policies and procedures.

Assures current licensure by fulfilling continuing education requirements. Participates in in-service education and orientation of pharmacy, nursing, and other personnel. Facilitates proper information transfer with regard to medication use for patients converted to inpatient care. Provides patient specific medication use teaching for discharge medications when appropriate.

Maintains awareness of contemporary trends in the profession through the professional literature and regular attendance at professional organization meetings, institutes and seminars. Assists in the development, implementation, and evaluation of residency programs in the areas of Pharmaceutical Care.

Graduate of an accredited program. Pharm. D. (preferred) or B.S. Pharmacy; completed an Oncology residency or acceptable clinical on the job training; licensed to practice pharmacy in the state of North Carolina, and in good standing with the state Board of Pharmacy. Work experience: Oncology residency or acceptable clinical on the job training. Knowledge, skills and abilities required: Ability to successfully complete generic and department-specific skills validation and competency testing. Provide Pharmacy review of medication orders prior to administration.

Clinical Pharmacist-Antimicrobial Stewardship Program

Michigan Health Care System is seeking a Clinical Pharmacist for Antimicrobial Stewardship Program (ASP) development! The ideal candidate will possess a Doctorate of Pharmacy and ASHP PGY-2 Residency in Infection Disease. Experience working in a high impact ASP is preferred. The role of a Clinical Pharmacist for the ASP will involve designing and implementing our ASP in collaboration with our employed Infectious Disease physicians, our clinical pharmacy specialists, and other key physician and hospital stakeholders.

Daily practice will be focused on the ASP and collaboration with our clinical specialists for excellent stewardship with every patient in every location every day. Daily practice identifying and resolving potential and actual antimicrobial and antifungal related problems, assisting physicians in designing regimens based on patient-specific parameters and co-morbidities, and collaborating with physicians to alter therapies as patient conditions change. In addition, communicates and collaborates with physicians, other clinicians, and pharmacy administration to develop ASP therapy protocols, guidelines and policies. The ASP Clinical Pharmacist will provide support to the Pharmacy & Therapeutics Committee, which may include serving as a member and/or activities such as preparing formulary drug reviews, and medication usage evaluations. ASP program development will include establishment of key metrics for evaluation and assistance with system report development to facilitate efficient practices.
