Clinical Coordinator for North Carolina Hospital in Hickory, NC

Amherst Healthcare is recruiting for a Clinical Pharmacy Coordinator for a great health system in North Carolina. The hospital is located midway between Winston-Salem and Hickory. Oncology residency is desired, but will consider a PGY1 with experience in Chemo and IV.

Responsibilities: Provides clinical pharmacy services for assigned outpatient oncology clinic, optimizing the quality of patient care. Instructs medical, nursing, pharmacy residents, students, and staff, regarding proper drug therapy. Conducts quality improvement activities and provides pharmacy operation support.

Maintains appropriate records as needed. Possesses the skills and ability to assess data reflective of patient status and to interpret this information and identify the patients' needs in relation to age-specific requirements and to provide care as described in accordance with policies and procedures.

Assures current licensure by fulfilling continuing education requirements. Participates in in-service education and orientation of pharmacy, nursing, and other personnel. Facilitates proper information transfer with regard to medication use for patients converted to inpatient care. Provides patient specific medication use teaching for discharge medications when appropriate.

Maintains awareness of contemporary trends in the profession through the professional literature and regular attendance at professional organization meetings, institutes and seminars. Assists in the development, implementation, and evaluation of residency programs in the areas of Pharmaceutical Care.

Graduate of an accredited program. Pharm. D. (preferred) or B.S. Pharmacy; completed an Oncology residency or acceptable clinical on the job training; licensed to practice pharmacy in the state of North Carolina, and in good standing with the state Board of Pharmacy. Work experience: Oncology residency or acceptable clinical on the job training. Knowledge, skills and abilities required: Ability to successfully complete generic and department-specific skills validation and competency testing. Provide Pharmacy review of medication orders prior to administration.
